Abstract
Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) is an annual important legume oil crop. Chemical and organic fertilizers are used to improve the crop growth and yield. Bioslurry is an organic liquid fertilizer. An experiment was carried out to find the comparative effect of chemical fertilizer and bioslurry application on growth and yield components of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) during July to December 2022. The experiment was conducted with six treatments and eight replicates in a completely randomized design. The treatments were T1 – No fertilizer (control), T2 – 100% NPK chemical fertilizers, T3 – 75% PK chemical fertilizers and 25% bioslurry, T4 – 50% PK chemical fertilizers and 50% bioslurry, T5 – 25% PK chemical fertilizers and 75% bioslurry, T6 – 100% bioslurry. The results revealed that there were significant (P<0.0001) differences in plant height, number of branches per plant, number of flowers, leaf area, number of nodules, number of pods, pod weight per plant, seed weight per plant, 100 seed weight, shoot weight, root weight and seed yield of groundnut. Relatively higher seed yield (234.44 g/m2) was obtained from the plants treated with 50% PK chemical fertilizers and 50% bioslurry (T4) whereas control treatment (T1) produced the lowest yield (48.96 g/m2). Based on the results of this study, it could be stated that using a mixture of 50% PK chemical fertilizer and 50% bioslurry could give high seed yield of groundnut with an environmentally friendly manner.
