Abstract

Online banking was expanded and has revolutionized the banking industry; however, the Cybersecurity question remains to stimulate the customer confidence and use habits. The paper explores the relationship between customer trust, usage behavior and Cybersecurity awareness among the Indian online banking users and how the awareness of cyber threat and the experienced problems and trust in the security measures of the banks dictates the transaction behavior and willingness. The paper also looked at the primary data of 132 online banking users in terms of descriptive statistics, tests of binomial and tests of Kruskal-Wallis as well as structural equation modeling (SEM). The most significant variables will be self-reported customer Cybersecurity knowledge, personal experience of being a victim of cyber threats, use of preventive measures, and confidence in online security behavior. The review informs that the degree of Cybersecurity awareness and a high degree of trust correlate with the more frequent and confident use of online banking and the past cyber incidents correlate with the higher degree of caution and preparedness. The analysis of SEM shows that the influence of Cybersecurity concerns on customer trust partially depends on customer preparedness and the model shows an adequate fit. The results suggest that increased transparency will be required and that certain aspects of Cybersecurity awareness would be implemented that could allow using online banking platforms safely and sustainably. The paper gives theoretical information and practical proposals to the banking sector with references to that fact that Cybersecurity plays a very important role in generating customer trust.
