	<Abstract>This study deals with conversion of clay to Organoclay with the help of surfactant called CTAB and evaluated for its properties. The prepared organoclay was analyzed by SEM, XRD and FTIR techniques. X-Ray diffractograms indicate the intercalation of organic moiety between the layers of montmorillonite. The thermal properties were analyzed using thermogravimetry, shows that the incorporation of organic cation alters the thermal stability of the Na-MMT.  </Abstract>
