Abstract

Jaipur is one of the potential clusters of handmade paper and textile dyeing .During dyeing process a large amounts of dyestuffs are being used, due to which a substantial amount of color is found in the wastewater emitting from these units. The effluent of these units makes serious environmental problems, so a study was undertaken with an aim to explore techno-feasible method for decolorizing effluent emanating from these textile units. In the scope of this paper, studies have been carried out on decolorization efficiency of Fe 2+ and H (Photo Fenton Process) in presence of UV light on Direct Red dye which is being used in handmade paper and textile units for dyeing purposes. The studies were carried by varying reaction time, initial dye concentration, dosage of ferrous sulphate and dosage of hydrogen peroxide.
